We had such a great 4th, and I was so glad I had something to write about, because I had been saving these patriotic clippings for a year! I made sure I was in line in my journal to write on teh 4th! My daughter's boyfriend and his friends went to Alabama (about 1 hr away) to buy fireworks (the really good ones are against the law in Georgia, but they look the other way on the 4th and New Years). They came home with about $200.00 worth and we had quite the dazzling display! At one point I turned around and looked up towards my house and you couldn't even see it because of the smoke! 

Well, this is actually page 2 - some how I got off count. I love this alphabet stamp set. Unfortunately, it's not mine - I borrowed it from my friend. It is really cool, though. I loved this yellow lamp (or perhaps it's a candle holder). I found this great magazine at the dump (!), kind of a zen feeling to it. There were all these great article headings. I clipped so many of them that the book is hardly holding together! 

Page 2. Don't know why I love chairs. I find myself cutting them out a lot.  

I'm disappointed on how the intensity of the colors turned out in this scan. They are actually much more brilliant. It has been so hot and humid here that it's hard to think of anythng else! Looks like we're going to get some rain from TS Cindy. I love rain, so I'm never sorry to see it coming.

I like these rich colors. Used the same paper for the edges that I had previously used in a nother spread, but I used green as my major color. I am addicted to the beautiful scrapbooking papers. I don't scrap any more, so I try to find uses for the paper I still have.

My daughter has the sweetest friends, and we're lucky enough to be the place they want to hang out. Her friend Stuart went on a road-trip to celebrate graduating from high school. He sent me this postcard from the Grand Canyon. I felt so special! I got another one from Oregon a few days later. If you can make out the writing, he says he wants some pizza rolls when he gets back (it's what I always feed them when it's late and they're hungry), so I guess I better get to the store because he will be home on the 4th and I want to spoil him!!

I've been feeling a bit crazy lately, thus the title! I've had this image of the sailor and the sailor's valentine for a long time, but in different folders. Glad I found them to match up. I love the story of the sailor valentines, and hope someday to try to make one. I'll be going to Florida in two weeks so maybe I'll buy some small shells.

This is a page I scanned before I journaled. I decided to just use a Kerouac quote. It was one line written in gold across the center of the two pages, "Dust rose to the stars together with every sad music on earth." I really like the way it tured out.

I'm adding this because I love the picture of my dad standing on top of Stone Mountain. this was taken in 1944, On the left, my dad is the one doing "muscle arms", a shy man he never was!! 

My tribute to Jack Kerouac. My friend says I shouldn't say "I love Jack Kerouac", only say, "I love On the Road", because in truth, I only like OTR. I've also read Desolation Angels and Visions of Cody, but they were just too weird for me. But OTR is my very favorite book of all times and I will add quotes from it to my journal often. 

Hey, thought I would add this, I like the bold colors. I was cleaning out my purse and found a bunch of stuff and decided to add it to my journal, all of it, including the little envelope and the paperclip were in my purse. There's also a feather, a movie stub, a candy wrapper and a christmas present receipt. Obviously, I'm a pack-rat!! 

I am testing this crazy system so I can help someone figure out how to post a picture! Hey, I think I've got itnow!! This is obviously a very old page! My New Years resolutions.

THIS IS A PAGE OUT OF MY DAILY BLACK AND WHITE JOURNAL. IT'S JUST A SPIRAL SKETCHBOOK THAT I RECORD THE DAILY HAPPENINGS IN. I TAKE IT EVERYWHERE WITH ME AND DRAW AND DOODLE WHILE I WAIT OR WATCH TV.

I GOT SOME NEAT IDEAS FROM HER WORK( LIKE USING THE BLACK AND WHITE CHECKERBOARD BACKGROUND AND THE LEOPARD).

THESE NEXT FEW ARE PAGES READY TO BE JOURNALED ON. I GOT THE IDEA FOR THE STENCIL LETTERS FROM LYNN PERRELLA IN HER NEW BOOK (WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE). AGAIN, I LOVE THE COLORFUL BACKGOUND.

THIS COLOR PALETTE IS SO SOOTHING. I JUST SQUISHED SOME ACRYLICS AROUND AND MUTED WITH SOME WASHED OUT WHITE. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IS MY COLLECTION OF ALPHABET STAMPS. THE LITTLE WHITE SQUARES IS AN ERASER STAMP I MADE.

Another page I hadn't journaled on when I scanned it. I used blue, green and gold metallic gel pens when I journaled and it turned out very nice. 

This is the other side, I love it too. Almost didn't want to journal on it. I scanned it before I wrote on it. 

This is another page I love. Used some art crayons to outline. 

What fun it was to find the green parachuter and the green doorknob! 

I really love this page. I love to snip in magazines. It was fun finding all the green letters! 

Other side. I just liked the curtains and the pillow just worked in with the colors. What fun!! 

Nice ox!! The background is a crumpled piece of tissue paper glued to the page then painted over with acrylics. Used the "Dawn" method of dipping sponge in white and letting it mix with the brown. Very nice effect I think. 

Love the bottle tree. Sideways tells how it is a superstition brought over by slaves. The bottles would catch evil spirits. 

Two of my favorite colors together! Cool quilt.

Ahhhh, me, about 25 years ago!! 22 is my favorite number I include it a lot in my pages. Never brings me any luck though!!  

The right side shows where I tipped in the handout from the exhibit. Learned this technique from Dawn! 

I was lucky enough to go to a Chihuly exhibit at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I found some pictures of his glassworks in a magazine.
